WHEN RELATIONSHIPS BEGIN TO FEEL DIFFICULT

Relationships can be an important source of connection and support, but they can also leave us feeling confused, unhappy, disconnected or unsure of ourselves.

You may be experiencing ongoing conflict, finding communication increasingly difficult or noticing that the same patterns seem to appear in different relationships. You may be questioning whether a relationship is right for you, recovering from a breakdown or struggling to adjust after separation or divorce.

Counselling provides dedicated space to step back from the immediate situation and explore what you are feeling, what you need and what may be influencing the way you relate to others.

Areas We May Explore Together

Relationship counselling can support women through many different experiences. Our work may include:

The focus will depend on you and your circumstances. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly why a relationship feels difficult or what decision you should make.

For broader therapeutic support, you can also explore my Counselling & Psychotherapy services .

  • ✓ Communication difficulties and recurring conflict
  • ✓ Feeling unheard, misunderstood or emotionally disconnected
  • ✓ Boundaries and difficulty expressing your needs
  • ✓ Loss of trust or changes within a relationship
  • ✓ Separation, divorce and relationship breakdown
  • ✓ Patterns that seem to repeat across relationships
  • ✓ Confidence, self-worth and identity within relationships
  • ✓ Family and parenting pressures
  • ✓ Balancing relationships with careers, businesses and other responsibilities
  • ✓ Adjusting to major changes or deciding what you want next

UNDERSTANDING RELATIONSHIP PATTERNS

Sometimes the difficulty in a relationship is connected to what is happening now. At other times, past experiences, family relationships, beliefs about yourself or established patterns can influence how you communicate, respond to conflict or understand your own needs.

Therapy can help you recognise these patterns with greater clarity and compassion. The aim is not to assign blame, but to understand what is happening and help you make choices that feel more aligned with your values and wellbeing.

My integrative approach allows us to explore both present-day concerns and, where helpful, some of the deeper experiences that may be shaping your relationships.

RELATIONSHIPS, IDENTITY & YOUR SENSE OF SELF

Relationships can shape how we see ourselves, particularly when we have spent a long time prioritising other people’s needs, adapting to expectations or trying to keep everything together. Over time, you may find that your own needs, boundaries or sense of identity have become harder to recognise.

Counselling can provide space to reconnect with yourself and explore what you want from your relationships, rather than focusing only on what others expect from you. Together, we can look at confidence, self-worth, boundaries and the experiences that may influence how you relate to others, helping you develop greater self-awareness and make choices that feel more aligned with who you are.

SEPARATION, DIVORCE & RELATIONSHIP BREAKDOWN

The end of a relationship can bring a mixture of grief, anger, uncertainty, relief and fear about the future. Even when separation feels necessary, adjusting to a different life can be emotionally demanding.

Counselling can provide a supportive space to process what has happened, understand your emotions and begin rebuilding confidence and a sense of direction. This may also involve navigating changes in family life, identity, parenting or future relationships.

Where relationship difficulties involve narcissistic or emotional abuse, more specialist support is available through my Narcissistic Abuse Recovery service.

A Therapeutic Space Focused on You

I believe meaningful change happens when we feel safe, understood and supported. My aim is to provide a warm, authentic and collaborative space where you can talk openly without feeling judged or pressured towards a particular outcome.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in managerial and director roles within the fashion, beauty and retail industries before founding and running two businesses. This experience has given me insight into the pressures women may face when balancing relationships, careers, businesses, motherhood and family life.
