The Impact of Depression & Anxiety

Depression and anxiety can cast a shadow over different aspects of your life, sometimes making even simple tasks feel difficult or overwhelming. You may feel persistently low, worried, exhausted or disconnected, or find it difficult to understand why you no longer feel like yourself.

Everyone experiences these difficulties differently. Counselling gives you space to explore what is happening for you and begin moving towards greater understanding, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

Everyday Life

Depression and anxiety can affect motivation, energy and your ability to manage everyday responsibilities. When things begin to feel insurmountable, having a dedicated space to talk can help you make sense of what you are experiencing and find a way forward.

Work

The toll of emotional difficulties on your professional life can be profound. Anxiety, low mood and stress can affect concentration, confidence, motivation and your ability to balance work with the other demands in your life.

Together, we can explore these challenges and consider ways to help you create a more fulfilling and balanced working life.

Relationships

Depression and anxiety can place a strain on relationships, sometimes leaving you feeling isolated or disconnected from the people around you. Therapy can help you explore how you are feeling, understand what you need and consider how your emotional wellbeing may be affecting your connections with others.

How I Can Help

As an integrative psychotherapist, I offer tailored sessions aimed at understanding both what you are experiencing now and, where appropriate, some of the underlying experiences or patterns that may be contributing to how you feel.

Together, we can explore coping mechanisms, emotional patterns and practical ways of managing the challenges you are facing. Therapy is tailored to you, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular way of working.

The aim is to provide a supportive space where you can understand yourself more deeply, develop ways of coping and begin to regain a greater sense of control in your life.

A THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TAILORED TO YOU

I take a holistic and integrative approach, recognising that emotional wellbeing can be influenced by many different aspects of your life and experiences. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, our work together is shaped around you and what you need.

Depending on your individual circumstances, I may draw from:

  • Integrative Therapy
  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Psychodynamic & Psychoanalytic Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
  • Transpersonal Therapy
  • Motivational & Empowerment Coaching

Together, we can explore both the challenges you are facing today and, where helpful, the deeper experiences and patterns that may be influencing how you think, feel and respond.

COMPASSIONATE GUIDANCE IN A SAFE & CONFIDENTIAL SPACE

I understand how difficult it can feel to reach out when you are struggling. My aim is to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can express yourself freely and explore what is happening at your own pace.

My own experiences have also given me a personal understanding of depression and anxiety and the impact they can have. This experience helps inform the empathy and compassion I bring to my work, alongside my professional training and therapeutic approach.

WHEN DEPRESSION & ANXIETY OVERLAP

Depression and anxiety can occur separately, but they can also exist alongside one another. You may find yourself feeling worried and unable to switch off while at the same time feeling exhausted, low or lacking motivation.

For some women, these feelings may also arise alongside periods of stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, hormonal changes or significant life transitions. Counselling provides space to explore these experiences as a whole, rather than assuming that the same explanation or solution applies to everyone.

If narcissistic or emotional abuse is part of what you have experienced, you can also learn more about my support for narcissistic abuse recovery.
